Ghost or Wordpress?
Choosing may seem daunting and time consuming, so I can help you decide with that.
Ghost:
- Choose Ghost if you plan to have a monthly or annual subscription that you charge money for. They are the premiere players in the market for that feature.
- Love writing? Is this your hobby or passion and you want to build a premiere site of your writing collections? Ghost is for you.
- Hate lag? You may want to choose Ghost, there is virtually no lag ever.
- Love Minimalist and Simplistic designs? Ghost is for you. We are in the era of clean, minimalist, and simplistic websites and Ghost is the best platform for that style, almost every theme looks very clean.
- Do you want a monthly newsletter whether free or paid? Ghost is the best at this hands down. You can even track who opened the e-mail, who clicked the link inside the e-mail, etc.
Wordpress:
- Choose Wordpress if you plan to run ads, as sometimes Ghost and Google Ads don't get along. Plus one of the points of Ghost is a clean looking website.
- Choose Wordpress if you need tons of menus, menus inside of menus (flash website).
- Are you selling products such as courses or other goods? Wordpress is the better option. Although you can still sell courses as a monthly subscription in Ghost, but if you want to sell digital products as a "one time" purchase, then Wordpress is what you need.
- Are you needing 3 or more websites? Wordpress is probably the better option. Once you start to need 3+ websites, Ghost starts becoming a much more expensive option. You can do three Wordpress websites on LiquidWeb or Cloudways for nearly the price of one Ghost website.
- If you have a ton of categories, and tons of content, Wordpress might be better, but both platforms will work very well.
